WHAT IS THE PTA?
In a nutshell, PTA is the community arm of the school. We aim to connect and support our Bollinger Canyon Elementary Community, as well as to help make school an amazing place to be for our students.
More formally, PTA is the largest parent volunteer-led organization in the United States, with over 5 million members. PTA was created to better the lives of children and strengthen school communities by focusing on the health, education, and well-being of students. Our mission is to realize every child’s potential, and help make it a reality. To engage and empower families and communities. And most importantly, to advocate for all children.
Here at Bollinger Canyon Elementary, our PTA strives to attain these goals by:
- Establishing events that promote safe social interactions for our students and their families, such as:
- Family Fun Night and other welcome back events
- Donuts with Loved Ones
- International Festival or Family Dance (alternates yearly)
- Kids’ Night Out
- Restaurant Nights and Menchie's After School
- Talent Show
- Strengthen our school community with programs like:
- Bulldog Dish Newsletter
- School pride programs like spirit wear and yearbooks
- Room Parents
- Organizing campus volunteers to assist with picture day, hearing and vision screenings, library liaisons, etc.
- Exceptional Education Team & Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Council
- PTA Honorary Service Awards
- 5th Grade Promotion T-shirts
- Sister School charity drives
- Classroom Stipends
- Teacher Appreciation Week & Staff Appreciation events
- Create programs that support our students' exploration of reading, writing, math, arts, sciences, and health. These programs include:

YOUR Membership is crucial to our programs
We do understand that the majority of people in our community have very full plates. Whether it is due to work, family, or other commitments, most of us don't have the time or bandwidth to be an involved PTA member. What you may not know, however, is that your involvement as a PTA member doesn't require any time from you beyond just signing up once a year.
Membership dues and donations are what keep the list of programs above running year after year. Without members, PTA would not have the means for these programs to continue. Click here to find out more about becoming a member.
